In a much awaited rematch of a classic final from a year ago, Seneca Valley came out with an aggressive mindset and never really let up, rolling to a 3-1 victory against Peters Township in the WPIAL Boys Class 4A soccer final at Highmark Stadium on Saturday evening.
Nathan Prex, who has emerged as the Raiders leading scorer this season, scored twice and had an assist while Cole Kamarec had the other goal for Seneca Valley.
“Nathan has the talent to put goals away. Credit to him, were thankful for him,” Seneca Valley’s George Williams said. “We also have a great cast around him. There was a lot of pressure on us to win this again and we came through. I am proud of our guys.”
Anthony Massucci and Nick Magree tallied the lone goal and assist for Peters Township, who finished as WPIAL runner-up for the second consecutive year.
“Hadn’t seen Seneca Valley on video play like that (this year),” Peters Township’s Bobby Dyer said. “We need to analyze why we didn’t play better, but Seneca Valley played one of their best games ever. We crept back, but couldn’t get it done.”
