PT girls remain unbeaten

Peters Township remained unbeaten in Section 2-AAAA girls soccer after an overtime win, 2-1, against rival Canon-McMillan and a shutout victory, 1-0, against Bethel Park.
After a scoreless first half, Jillian Marvin scored the decisive goal against the Black Hawks. Macy Trax assisted the tally, which came at 10 minutes into the second half of play.
Sarah Heisinger was the hero against the Big Macs. She registered both goals.
After Sarah Tonkovich put C-M in the lead with 19:19 to play in regulation, Heisinger scored less than two minutes later.
Marvin assisted the tally at 17:35 while Annabelle Thomas had the assist on Tonkovich’s goal. Marvin also had an assist on the game-winner.
Earlier, the Indians ran their overall record to (10-0-1) with an 8-0 victory against Seton LaSalle.
Hannah Stuck recorded the hat trick. She also picked up two assists.
Trax, Brooke Opferman and Maddie Bush completed the scoring.
Marvin also added two assists. Kaila McFerran, Casey Breier and Nicolette Gill also contributed assists.
Emma Sawich has been a brick wall in front of the nets for the Indians. She has allowed just one goal all season.
After home matches with winless Brasher on Oct. 2 and Mt. Lebanon (2-8), the Indians visit Moon at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The Tigers signify the lone blemish on PT’s record. Both teams played to a 1-1 tie Sept. 16.
The Big Macs (8-3) reversed their decision against Peters, turning in a 2-1 triumph against Upper St. Clair (6-4). The two teams remain tied for third place in the section standings with 5-3 marks.
Sami Snyder scored off a free kick from Maura O’Donoghue and Lexie Twaddle added the other tally for the Lady Macs.
Brooke Meiner, off an assist from Marissa Krenn, scored for the Panthers.
